Bamboo Biryani: A Mysuru Festival Favorite

At the 2025 Mysuru Dasara food festival, the Hunsur bamboo biryani has captivated food enthusiasts with its unique preparation and rich big time gaming casinos flavors. This traditional dish involves stuffing marinated meat or vegetables and rice into hollow bamboo tubes, which are then sealed with leaves and cooked over an open flame or in a steamer. The result is a smoky, aromatic biryani that offers a distinctive culinary experience. Priced between ₹200 and ₹300 per plate, each day sees the use of over 200 bamboo tubes, highlighting the dish’s popularity among festival-goers.

Beyond the bamboo biryani, the festival showcases a diverse array of regional specialties. The Madike (pot) biryani from Mysuru, served with three chicken starters, and the steam-prepared bamboo mushroom biryani have garnered significant attention. Vegetarian options such as Bagalkot’s jolada rotti and Melukote’s puliyogare also draw large crowds, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of Karnataka.

The event, held at Maharaja’s College Grounds, has been extended beyond the Dasara festival until October 2, allowing more visitors to experience these gastronomic delights. Despite the high costs associated with setting up stalls, vendors like Shivaswamy and Geetha have noted high demand and recognition, including appreciation from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

This celebration not only offers a feast for the senses but also serves as a testament to the enduring appeal of traditional cooking methods and regional flavors in contemporary India.
